What went well?

The underside was nicely buttery, I flipped it for the photo haha. Great with pears, tahini, and honey.

What didn't?

Hmmm, there wasn't a dramatic rise on the sides like a Yorkshire pudding, so might leave my cast iron in the oven to preheat much longer before pouring in the batter.

Other notes

I made .25x the original batch, which is 1 day of discard. 8" Staub cast iron oval gratin weighs 1490g. "Loaf" was 200g.
